For Sophie’s birthday celebrations, we headed to ‚Bar Raval‘ in Kreuzberg, kicking off the evening with an Aperol Spritz and a toast. It was, as you might imagine, not the last delicious drink of the evening.
As in tapas tradition, we shared everything: Queso de cabra asado con miel, mermelada de tomate y hierbas frescas (grilled goat cheese with honey, tomato chutney and fresh herbs), Berenjenas fritas con miel (eggplant tempura with honey), Gambas al Ajillo Raval (garlic shrimp „Raval Style“), Croquetas de berenjenas (croquettes with eggplant), Calamares fritos (fried calamari), Pimientos de PadrĂłn (fried small green peppers) and Patatas bravas (potatoes with garlic mayonnaise). It was all so incredibly delicious and even in a very good tapas bar in Spain, it doesn’t get any better.
For dessert we had the coulant de chocolate con helado de vainilla (chocolate coulant with vanilla ice cream) – our personal highlight. Although we were stuffed, we of course had to eat it all (that’s what the second ‚dessert stomach‘ is for!). After hours enjoying fine Spanish wines, our conversation got more and more… adventurous. We’ll leave that subject alluringly mysterious here, but catch us for a drink and maybe we’ll fill you in. đ
Our evening at ‚Bar Raval‘ brought us very close to the Barcelona Feeling, and as we sauntered off into the summer night, you could make out the gentle sound of the ocean lapping on the warm sand.
