About us

Looking back, it seems like destiny that the four of us came together to form this little group. We met at a wonderful organization called Über den Tellerrand, which creates spaces for locals and refugees to meet and get to know one another through a shared activity – most often cooking!

We connected through our shared love of food and cultural exploration, and together embarked on a culinary adventure around Berlin. On this blog, we invite you with us to sample the city´s unique delights, restaurant by restaurant, bistro by bistro. Come join us.

Linn

A native Berliner(in), Linn has already travelled half the world and got to know many different dishes and flavors, from Fish ’n Chips in London, to fried plantains in Cameroon, Pho in Vietnam, and rice pudding with chicken in Iran. But the one dish she would come back home quickly for from all over the world: Grandma’s Christmas roast with red cabbage ♥

Nicole

Singaporean chili crab, Quebec maple syrup or Danish kanelsnegle – Nicole loves nothing more than eating her way across the continents and connecting with people through food. Back home in Berlin, she really enjoys hosting friends, making her blueberry banana pancakes for them or trying out various new recipes, always on the hunt for another favorite dish. To her, there is nothing that expresses love more than those three words: “Have you eaten?”

Sara

Already during her time at university Sara gained a reputation as the ‚Queen of Pasta‘, a skill she learned from a very good Italian friend. After perfecting this fine art, she began to dabble with other food groups, increasingly complex recipes and multi-course dinners for friends. For some time Sara has been a vegetarian / pescetarian and gets creative cooking great dishes without meat. Being a true pro when it comes to food, Sara even lists ‚eating out‘ as one of her greatest skills on her resume.

Sophie

For years, Sophie has been generously serving family, friends and local restaurants as chief quality-controller – if they have a dish to taste, she’s at their side with a fork at the ready. But Sophie loves making her own dishes too, especially if it involves baking, or tahini. Or both. She’s particularly interested in healthy and natural eating and sustainable sourcing (or should that be saucing?) and can often be found asking ‘is that gluten free’?
